Director of Development & Communication

Job Description

Purpose

The Director of Development and Communications is responsible for the direction, planning, and execution of fundraising, solicitation, and general marketing to help facilitate a strong public image and strong financial foundation for Love INC in Anchorage.

Responsibilities

  1. Create and implement an annual development strategy, in coordination with the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
  2. Lead and manage Love INC in Anchorage’s overall development efforts; including a strategic plan to raise $200,000 in calendar year 2012, with an expectation of increasing amounts in subsequent years.
  3. Cultivate and nurture major gift prospects by independently identifying and utilizing resources including volunteers, staff, publications, and the internet. 
  4. Supervise systematic efforts to identify, solicit, steward, maintain and upgrade individual, corporate, and foundation funders to growing Love INC’s donor base.
  5. Participate in all aspects of fundraising including research, grant writing, donor recognition, marketing, and targeted networking to include social media. 
  6. Mange an annual giving campaign and event-based fundraisers.
  7. Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and public relations strategies.

Qualifications

  1. Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agreement with the Apostles’ Creed.
  2. Relevant education and demonstrated related work experience.
  3. Evidence of success planning and executing fundraising/marketing efforts.
  4. Ability to prioritize projects and assignments, maintain a positive attitude, and produce professional results under deadlines.
  5. Experience with grant writing, fundraising research, broadcast & social media, and development of public information materials.
  6. Strong communication skills including ability to write and speak persuasively.
  7. Strong time management and organizational skills to maintain daily work flow, meet deadlines, and produce measurable results.
  8. Experience working with community agencies and/or the church community.
  9. Demonstrated success coordinating, attracting, and closing major gift funding, including face-to-face solicitation of gifts.
